Loyola High School Theology Teacher
POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, 10-Month
REPORTS TO: Principal

POSITION SUMMARY : Loyola High School is seeking applicants for a teaching position in high school theology in the 2024-2025 school year.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and implement creative lessons and inspire students to learn.
• Teach and develop student knowledge of theology, spirituality, morality, and social justice.
• Demonstrate instructional practices that engage students in conceptual thinking, promote problem solving and creativity, and challenge students to achieve high standards of content mastery.
• Take ownership for student academic progress and show an active interest in student achievement.
• Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt delivery to meet the needs of students with varying academic skill levels.
• Communicate timely and effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Collaborate with staff and other professionals to plan lessons and meet student needs.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Understanding of Ignatian pedagogy and commitment to Jesuit values.
• Understanding of the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching summarized by the USCCB.
• Excellent interpersonal, project management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and inspire a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
• Familiarity with educational technology and data-driven decision-making.
• High enthusiasm for the mission of Loyola High School.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Certification or pathway to certification as an Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic High School Theology Teacher preferred.
