The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including internal audits, bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, fixed asset management, and various tax filings. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting special projects as needed.

Staff Accountant Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations including recording necessary journal entries and coordinating with Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Treasury Services to resolve any variances.
• Reconcile cleared checks for all firm accounts and ensure accuracy in daily reviews of all bank accounts against the accounting system.
• Monitor accounts for returns (ACH, checks) and assist in resolving daily account discrepancies.
• Support the daily balancing of accounting systems and assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile client credit card payments monthly and resolve any discrepancies.
• Assist with data and document requests for financial audits and tax returns.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including accrued liabilities.
• Manage fixed asset records under the guidance of the General Accounting Manager.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of personal property tax returns, as well as monthly and annual use tax filings.
• Organize accounting files, both physical and electronic, including tax filings, leases, and bank documents.

Staff Accountant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience preferred, but new graduates will be considered. Experience in the legal industry is a plus.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, balance sheet, income statement, and financial reporting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.

Location: San Antonio, TX

Salary: $53,000 - $70,000 + discretionary bonus
