Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award two-time recipient from INSIGHT into Diversity (2022,2023) Summary: The accountant position provides support for accounting and financial reporting functions within the Finance department.
- This position reports to the Assistant Controller.
- We are seeking to hire one Accountant.
- The starting salary for this position is $45,000 depending on experience.
- This position will be hybrid remote with some in-office work expectations. In-office schedule will be developed with the hiring manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Construct routine spreadsheet applications to prepare financial data for input into the finance system.
- Assist in preparing, reconciling, balancing, and maintaining accounting records for the balance sheet and other accounts as appropriate.
- Reconciling bank statements.
- Enter data into the finance system.
- Review expenditure transaction data to assure compliance with company policies and accounting principles.
- Distribution of monthly reports and support department administrative assistants.
- Develop skills in the college's software systems.
- Serves as an aid in various detailed reconciliations.
- Conduct or may assist in audits and audit paperwork preparation.
- Participate in local, state, and federal government reporting.
- Assist in compliance with funding and reporting requirements, and standard accounting procedures.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Level of duty and responsibilities will be determined based on the level at which the candidate is hired (see levels below).
Other skills important to this position: - Working knowledge of financial accounting and reporting, including steps in the accounting cycle, standard accounting procedures, and financial reporting formats
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Self-starter, capable of working independently with some or minimal supervision and demonstrating initiative with a positive attitude.
- Highly organized, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication (written/oral) and interpersonal skills; a team player; takes direction well.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Accountant I (nonexempt)
: Education Experience:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; Including Word and Excel (advanced Excel a plus)
- Associate degree in accounting or related field and 3 years of related work experience
- Or 5 years of related work experience
Preferences:
- If Bachelor's degree in accounting, no previous work experience is required
- Knowledge of the procurement process
Accountant II (exempt)
: Education & Experience:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; Including Word and Excel (advanced Excel a plus)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 3 years of related work experience.
